Don’t Ignore These 5 Home Owner Maintenance Issues
I know money is tight these days and it is tempting to put off home repairs and maintenance. However putting them off and waiting could be more costly in the long run.

Home Maintenance
- Don’t ignore cracks in your foundation wider than 3/16 of an inch. Should you notice these have them examined by a structural engineer.
- Cracked, curled and mussing shingles could mean that your roof is nearing the end of its useful life. Be sure to check for cracks around the chimney, skylights and roof valleys as well.
- Probe the sill plate on the top of your foundation with a screwdriver and check for rotten wood, carpenter ants and termites.
- Check the gutters for broken fasteners, separations where the gutters meet the fascia board and make sure they are not clogged so that they will not lead to roof leaks.
- Check under carpets and around the windows for mold and mildew which can not only cause odors, dank air and make you and your family sick.
You are right that when money is tight people put off all types of Maintenance, which indeed can be more costly in the long run. Good reminder.
